The Institute of Professional Development at Long Island University presents the following colloquium, “Ukraine: Researching the Psychological Impact of War” (full video), held on June 23, 2023, hosted by Dr. Joan Duncan and Dr. Caroline Clauss-Ehlers and moderated by Dr. Alex Lupis. Plenary speakers Aterm Osypian (12:00-21:53), Dr. Ganna Naydonova (21:58-31:39), and Dr. Valeriia Palii (31:40-39:10) presented their research, followed by a facilitator led question and answer session (39:11-52:07).
Four subsequent break out room sessions were moderated, reviewing the following topics: (1) “Supporting Children and Youth Caught in the Crossfire of War” with Dr. Mariana Velykodna and Dr. Lyudmyla Kolisnyk (52:45-1:28:30), (2) “Forced Displacement: The Psychological Impact of War” with Dr. Yaryna Anrushko and Yana Rudiuk (1:28:31-2:02:39), (3) “Challenges in Psychological Practice” with Dr. Viktoriia Gorbunova and Olha Sandal (2:02:40-2:41:42), and “Psychological Disorders in the Context of War” with Svitlana Bolman and Anna Hrubaia (2:41:42-3:14:23). Each breakout room session is summarized (3:14:24-3:27:07) and concluding remarks from the colloquium organizers are given (3:27:08-3:30:12). And a special thanks to our moderators Maya Matalon, Ella Zhi, Sydney Lee, Faith O’Connor, Daniel Sauermilch, and Erica Garagiola for their help with this event.
